Philadelphia Water Department

PWD manages the city's water supply, wastewater, and storm water. The PWD/WPLP partnership grew out of meetings sponsored by the EPA in 1996-1997 and developed through the leadership of Howard Neukrug, director of PWD's Office of Watersheds (1998-2010) and Water Commissioner (2011-2017). In 1999, WPLP and PWD developed a proposal for the Mill Creek watershed, which led to state and federal funding for joint projects between PWD, Sulzberger Middle School, and the Mill Creek Coalition, and contributed to the City’s landmark plan, Green City, Clean Waters. In 2015, PWD Chief of Staff Mami Hara co-taught an MIT class with Anne Spirn on Philadelphia Green Schools.
